SALARY RANGE: $55,500 - $72,180

Base salary is determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

CLOSING DATE: This position will close on April 30, 2018.

LOCATION: Rapid City, SD

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Lead the digital charge at Black Hills Energy.

Work with employees from across the organization to develop, execute and promote the company’s goals in digital media.

Plan, coordinate, participate in, and measure daily online posting activities and maintenance of social media channels and websites to ensure systems are properly functioning and content remains timely and accurate and aligns with ongoing campaigns using approved content management systems.

Communicate with authors to update, design and develop new content and ensure all online copy is strategically sound, written in a consistent voice, brand-appropriate, search engine optimized and aligned with the Company’s overall brand standards, web standards and user experience best-practices.

Manage the company’s email marketing strategy through regular email messaging campaigns for multiple company brands, analysis of current email marketing campaigns, and continuous improvements.

Measure the company’s performance in digital media through Google Analytics and other applicable metrics tools.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Digital Media Program Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all internal and external digital media, website and social media inquiries and requests.

  • Develop, manage, contribute to and support the overall digital/social media strategy by creating, scheduling and publishing multimedia content across our websites, blogs and social media channels

  • Continually look for opportunities to expand the company’s reach in to new social media platforms and execute when appropriate.

  • Provide regular reports on social media platforms as a whole, campaign and individual post performance and share insights and recommendations with respective business units.

  • Use approved content management systems to manage, maintain and improve the overall look and timeliness of the website and social media content for our external audiences.

  • Use content management system to develop and build microsites and landing pages on company websites that coincide with campaign and marketing efforts and strategic goals.

  • Understand the goal, audience, and message of a campaign, create online copy to suit, suggest digital platforms to further campaign goals and execute and measure campaign performance.

  • Use online measurement and monitoring tools to evaluate and report on the effectiveness of our strategy and recommend additional initiatives for engagement and customer adoption

  • Respond and find solutions to social media inquiries in a timely and courteous fashion.

  • Train and oversee a group of off-sight Customer Operations Representatives who assist in monitoring social media during business hours. Provide recommendations to group where appropriate.

  • Proactively manage all online content by working with all content providers for the maintenance and improvement of online content.

  • Rigorously apply online site governance (policies/authority matrix/audit, roles and responsibilities).

  • Create concepts, artwork and layout for sites and other online projects based on creative briefs, client meetings, and user experience best-practices.

  • Post, remove or suggest improvements to content based on metrics or expiration date.

  • Assure all online content is written in a consistent voice and make edits where appropriate.

  • Take content from other sources and prepare it for a web audience and develop content where appropriate.

  • Manage the company’s email marketing strategy.

  • Develop ongoing content calendars for multiple business units.

  • Work with Corporate Affairs team to design, write and refine messaging.

  • A/B test email components where appropriate

  • Work with Customer Service to responsibly manage customer email addresses and company email lists based on CAN-SPAM laws and email marketing best-practices.

  • Monitor and measure performance of email campaigns and suggest improvements and follow-up messaging tactics where appropriate.

  • Compile email marketing reports for respective business units and provide insights in to campaign performance.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise assistant web editors and ensure back-up web editors are trained.

  • Educate the company on digital media best-practices and web standards.

  • Work with 3rd party agencies and vendors to manage various digital media components.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain strong working relationships within Creative Solutions Department.

  • Maintain supportive and respectful working relationships with all Black Hills Corporation employees and departments.

  • Maintain professional relationships with all vendors.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three year’s work experience in communications field required.

  • Strong writing and editing experience.

  • Experience in web and social media content development preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Visual Design, Liberal Arts or a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Advanced knowledge of social media content development and management.

  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube

  • Advanced knowledge of webpage and design software included in Adobe Creative Cloud and WYSIWYG editors.

  • Working knowledge of web protocols such as HTML, CSS, XML and JSP.

  • Knowledgeable about content management systems and templates – expertise in Drupal preferred.

  • Familiarity with new web applications with understanding of methods used to further enhance web sites.

  • Understanding of web design issues, including browser usability and cross-platform compatibility.

  • Knowledge of methods for tracking web site usage by external audiences.
