This position applies advanced knowledge to perform professional carpentry duties for forming concrete walls, footings and slabs.
Duties and ResponsibilitieS
Forms and pours footings.
Secures stakes and aligns forms to grids.
Straightens, plumbs and squares forms, and aligns to grid lines to construct footings.
Raises forms to required elevation.
Determines level of concrete in forms.
Forms and pours walls.
Determines best method to form the wall.
Straightens, plumbs and squares wall forms, and aligns forms to grid lines to construct walls.
Shoots grades on forms to required elevation.
Ensures concrete is poured at correct rate and consolidated properly.
Vibrates and floats concrete (16' - 20' depths).
Builds and installs block-outs and embeds.
Installs architectural finishes according to specifications and plans (for Interior Construction Specialists subsidiary)
Installs door frames, doors and hardware, and miscellaneous trim and finish items
Maintains a clean and safe job site.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Reads blueprints to determine measurements, sizes, locations, types of walls, footings, floors, etc.
Utilizes carpentry math to calculate measurements required to construct facilities.
Applies knowledge of concrete and its properties. (Formsetters)
Applies knowledge of wood and metal finishes. (Finish Carpenters for Interior Construction Specialists)
Determines elevations and layout through the use of builder levels, transits, lasers, etc.
Works effectively as a member of the direct field workforce.
Cooperates with coworkers to improve both the quality of work and the morale of the project site.
Commits to, and meets, all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
Works diligently to perform in a safe manner according to Layton Construction guidelines.
Follows the decisions of the foreman and superintendent and directs the work of carpenter helpers and laborers.
Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing threat of harm to self or others.
Handles very heavy work.
Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.

Detects attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension or force by tactile means. (Feel)
Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken work. (Speak)
Perceives the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,00 Hz with or without correction. (Hear)
Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body or its parts.
Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interprets a variety of complex instructions.
Owns tools required of finish carpenter and/or formsetter position.
Has high school diploma or equivalent.
Understands and conveys English commands, questions and instructions on an eighth-grade level regarding commercial construction.
Is at least 18 years of age.
