CLOSING DATE: This position will close on March 23, 2018.

LOCATION : Rapid City, SD


Support and assist with various projects as assigned within the Company’s Information Technology Department – specifically Business Applications. These projects will be assigned consistent with the Company’s Internship Program with an emphasis on developing an understanding of the Company’s multiple business units and enhancing the intern’s ability to apply his/her education in a business environment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP : Web and ECM Application Manager


  • Provide customer support for web and enterprise level systems

  • Assist with ongoing maintenance and application architecture for different web systems.

  • Support the web team with setup or changes to websites (internal and external) and the Content Management System.

  • Setup, Troubleshoot, and Support the Help Desk ticketing application and web portal.

  • Assist with validation and testing of web sites and applications.

  • Research customer solutions with current systems.

  • Produce documentation of our web sites and architectures.


  • Possible assist of Microsoft Sharepoint and IBM Filenet


  • Maintain strong working relationships within Information Technology Department.

  • Maintain supportive and respectful working relationships with all Black Hills Corporation employees and departments.


  • None required.


  • College student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field, with preferred emphasis in web technologies and architecture.


  • Basic knowledge of computer information systems.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare and give presentations.

  • Attention to detail required.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of business, employee and applicant information.

  • Participation in the Company’s Industry Orientation Experiences, which will include some travel.

  • Prepare and present a synopsis of experience with the Company at the end of the internship.
